Thousands of Devotees Attend IDUK’s Ganesh Immersion Ceremony in London

The Indian Diaspora in the UK (IDUK) Group, in collaboration with SWIPE and the Jubilee River, Riverside Centre in Slough, proudly organised a three-day Ganesh Visarjan event for the third consecutive year. The event, held at the official Ganesh Immersion site in London, attracted thousands of devotees from across England, making it a resounding success as the Indian community came together to honour Lord Ganesha with devotion and enthusiasm.
Event Highlights:
Day 2: Sunday, 8th September 2024 - Over 120 Ganesha idols and 1,000+ attendees
Day 5: Wednesday, 11th September 2024 - Over 75 Ganesha idols and 700+ attendees
Day 11: Tuesday, 17th September 2024 - Over 100 Ganesha idols and 800+ attendees
Venue: The Jubilee River, Riverside Centre, Slough, SL1 2BP
Over the course of the three days, more than 3,000 devotees participated in this grand celebration.
IDUK founders Hirdesh Gupta, Ajay Murudkar, and Alok Gupta expressed their heartfelt gratitude, stating, “It is our immense pleasure to organise this event and witness the joyous faces of the devotees. The overwhelming turnout and participation give us great satisfaction. We are committed to further developing this site to accommodate even more people in future celebrations. It’s heartening to see devotees travelling from all over England to partake in the Ganesh immersion.”
The event was also graced by the presence of former MP for Southall, Mr. Virendra Sharma, along with several councillors and other prominent personalities.
This celebration was made possible by the generous contributions from the community. IDUK has successfully raised funds to develop the immersion site, ensuring it is easily accessible to all. Our vision is to establish a permanent Ganesh Visarjan facility, offering the Indian diaspora a true cultural experience for future Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.

Slough, August 15, 2024 – The Indian Diaspora in the UK (IDUK) Group proudly hosted a vibrant celebration of Indian Independence Day at Slough, marking the 78th anniversary of India’s independence. The event was attended by numerous prominent personalities from the Indian community, underscoring the strong cultural ties and patriotism among the Indian diaspora.
The highlight of the event was the flag hoisting ceremony, led by the Mayor of Slough, Balwinder Singh Dhillon Ji. The Indian tricolor soared proudly as the gathered crowd honoured the spirit of freedom and unity. He appreciate the efforts putting together by IDUK for bringing community together through organising event like this.
Council Leader Dexter Smith expressed his admiration for the community’s dedication, noting, "It's amazing to see so many people turn up at 7:30 AM on a working day, which is incredible. He also emphasises the strong bond between India and UK and people to people connect.
There were several cultural performances to showcase love for India. The event saw the presence of esteemed guests including Ex-Army Officer Mr. Ashok Chauhan, Former Mayor Mr. Meva Maan, Cllr Subhash Mohindra, Cllr Neal Rana, Cllr Chandra Muvalla, Cllr Gur Charan Singh, Cllr Dhruv Tomar, and Cllr Md Nazir, all of whom contributed to the success of the celebration.
The program was skillfully hosted by Mr. Ashish Mishra, who ensured the event's smooth flow and engaging atmosphere. The event organisers and co-founders of IDUK Mr. Hirdesh Gupta, Ajay Murudkar and Alok Gupta expressed heartfelt thanks to all participants for their enthusiasm and commitment in joining the celebration so early in the morning. They also extended his gratitude to the sponsors whose support made the event possible, and to the dedicated IDUK volunteer team for their unwavering assistance.
The refreshment/fruits were served to all the participants. The celebration was not just a tribute to India’s independence but also a testament to the unity and resilience of the Indian community in the UK. It served as a reminder of the shared values and the importance of remembering the sacrifices made for freedom.
IDUK organised International Day of Yoga 2024 at Arbour Park Stadium, Slough, UK
Slough, UK – The International Day of Yoga 2024 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and spirit at Arbour Park Stadium on 21st June 2024. The event witnessed the presence of several distinguished guests including the Worshipful Mayor of Slough, Cllr Balvinder Singh Dhillon, and the Mayoress, Mrs. Dhillon. They were joined by Mr. Deepak Chaudhary, Minister Coordination at the High Commission of India; Mr. Dexter Smith, Council Leader of Slough Borough Council; and Mr. Davendra Nim, MLA from Saharanpur, UP, India. The event also saw participation from many councillors, politicians, and members of the Indian diaspora.
The event began with an invigorating Zumba session led by certified dance instructor Ritika Arora, who recently conducted a highly successful Zumba class at a large-scale fitness event organized by IDUK. The high-energy session set a lively tone for the day, attracting a large and enthusiastic crowd.
In recognition of outstanding achievements in sports, IDUK presented awards to 16 young achievers who have made significant contributions at various levels of competition. This segment of the event celebrated the dedication and hard work of young athletes, inspiring the audience with their achievements.

Their collective efforts ensured the event's success and reinforced the importance of yoga and fitness in promoting health and well-being.
The celebration of International Day of Yoga at Arbour Park Stadium stands as a testament to the growing awareness and appreciation of yoga's benefits, fostering a sense of community and encouraging a healthier lifestyle among participants.
The Indian Diaspora in the UK (IDUK Group) organised first-ever Indian Republic Day celebration in Slough, UK, which was attended by over 500 people last year on Sunday, 22nd January 2023. This year with greater zeal we are bringing you the celebration with Mayor of Slough - Cllr Amjad Abbasi and many others from our community in Slough.
Remembering our history and our heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation helping our children learn the lesson of patriotism, and bring the Indian Diaspora together. The event will witness the hosting of the Indian national flag and also cultural performances by children and adults.

The IDUK Group in association with Jubilee River Riverside Centre and Slough West Indian People’s Enterprise (SWIPE) facilitated Ganesh (Idol) Visarjan during the 10-day festival in a safe and supported environment by organizing a dedicated immersion site on 1st, 4th & 9th of September.
People responded in great numbers and this event is the first of its kind in Slough, where something so well and thoughtful has been done for the community celebrating the festival.
IDUK Group with great pride took this initiative to publicly hoist the Indian flag in Slough for the very first time.
The event witnessed Cllr Dilbagh Parmar (Mayor- Slough Borough Council, UK) and Mrs. Amarjit Parmar (Mayoress), Cllr Bains Balwinder (Councilor of Slough Borough Council, UK) and Cllr Chandra Muvvala (Councilor of Slough Borough Council, UK) as chief guests and hoisted the beautiful Indian flag in front of people with great honor.
